Young Women Are Just Numbers to Nancy Keenan

Did you see this HuffPo piece by Nancy Keenan, the President of NARAL?

Did you know that 98 percent of American women use birth control during their lifetime?
Yet for many women, it's simply too expensive. One in three women has struggled with the high cost of prescription birth control.
The consequences are staggering. Young adults ages 18-24 have the highest rate of unintended pregnancy in the United States -- and nearly one-third of female teenagers become pregnant before reaching the age of 20. Nearly half of all pregnancies in the United States are unintended.
Does Nancy Keenan know that according to Guttmacher:
Fifty-four percent of women who have abortions had used a contraceptive method (usually the condom or the pill) during the month they became pregnant. Among those women, 76% of pill users and 49% of condom users report having used their method inconsistently, while 13% of pill users and 14% of condom users report correct use.
It's clear that even if we supplied EVERY woman of child bearing age with birthcontrol pills, 3/4 would not use it consistently enough to prevent pregnancy.  What a waste of valueable resources!  Just think how far that money would go to care for people that are actually sick.

"Young adults ages 18-24 have the highest rate of unintended pregnancy in the United States -- and nearly one-third of female teenagers become pregnant before reaching the age of 20."

Indeed, the numbers are staggering.  If this doesn't speak loudly for the cause of abstinence, I don't know what will.  Young women are being over-sexualized, having to load their bodies with artificial hormones to prevent pregnancy.  And about half the time, they get pregnant anyway.  Then they are subjected to the abortionist.  Where does it stop?

If pro-choice really cared about young women, they would work to prevent them from being subjected to this abuse.   The only way to prevent this abuse is by remaining abstinent.  Did I even mention STI's?

  1. I'm really enjoying your blog! Keep up the good work!

  2. What I don't understand is, where are the MEN in this situation? She only mentions takes 2 to make a baby, so it shouldn't it take 2 to prevent a baby? I am a single Catholic so I am against contraception, let alone premarital sex, but if I wasn't, you better believe I would insist the man pay for half (or for all) of any contraceptions.

If he won't pay for birth control, what makes a woman think he'll stick around to raise a child? Why do women sleep with losers? It blows my mind.

Sorry for the rant :D I enjoy your blog too!

  3. Ahh Thank you Sadie. Feel free to rant anytime!

I am not Catholic, and I prefer barrier methods of birth control, and/or NFP.

The fems don't want men to pay for their birth control, they just use them for sex. They want me and you to pay for it.

  4. I can't tell you how many times in the course of my profession I have heard women acknowledge that they are fully aware of how to use contraception, but knowingly had sex when they knew they had not used it correctly - but with responsibility and accountability out the window, abortion remains as back-up birth control.

PS - How does one become a team member? I would love to be a part of this blog. Chalk it up to frustration with comment moderation over at the "Abortion Gang". Can we talk?

  5. Even Guttmacher stats show irresponsible usage of birth control.

And yes, the back up for that irresponsibility is abortion.

Are you on twitter? Send me a DM if you are. If not, I'll give you my email address.

  6. Anon - You can email me at: The Anti Abortion Gang AT gmail

  7. There are no spaces between the words in my email address.

  8. I'm going to start with saying that I am pro-choice. I don't believe there is anything morally (not religiously, because in my opinion organized religion is immoral in itself) wrong with having an abortion. The reality of the situation at hand is that kids are going to have sex. You can teach them abstinence all you want they're going to have sex. Birth control or no birth control THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE SEX. You cannot stop this. No religion, no laws, no matter how much you protest a woman's right to contraceptives or autonomy is going to change that. So instead of being naive and thinking, "if I tell them in school, at home, on tv, in movies (or whatever other means you could use) to just not have sex, then they wont have sex" maybe we should teach them in these ways listed above about how to have safe sex. You may say abortion is just a back up plan for girls who can't remember to take the pill but the other reality here is that if the right to choose an abortion is taken away, not only would it be socially immoral but kids WILL NOT STOP HAVING SEX. Not to mention the rise in single mothers on welfare (which is money out of YOUR paychecks), the birth complications of having a child at such a young age and the rise in amount of girls who don't graduate high school or further their education beyond that. Sex is apart of life and whether you believe it's a sin or not, doing it as soon as those hormones start maturing in your body is natural. So you can say the answer to all of these questions is to just not have sex but in the REAL world that's just not an option anymore. So maybe it's time you stop beating a dead horse and come up with a new and unique solution that is actually possible.

  9. forever my own - You don't have to be religious to know that killing a developing human is wrong.

I don't blame kids for having sex. I blame parents who allow their kids the opportunity to have sex. But you know what? Less than 6.5% of abortions are performed on 'kids' under 18 years old. So while you're saying 'kids will not stop having sex!', be honest about who is having sex, and who is having abortions. It's not kids, it's adult women who data has shown, have access to birth control, but don't bother to use it correctly.

So you can tell your 15 year old daughter "Sex is awesome, be sure he uses a condom!".. OR...

You can tell her that sex is MUCH better with someone you love, and who loves you!

You can tell her that she can prevent contracting a STD by abstaining from sex.

You can tell her abstaining from sex prevents pregnancy.

KIDS ARE NOT STUPID!!! But they do need proper guidance to help keep them from making stupid mistakes they will regret for the rest of the life. It YOUR JOB to guide them.
