This Is Not A Difficult Concept

Going After Birth Control Means Certain Defeat For Personhood
This initiative was destined for failure. Here’s why. As written on their website:
The Ohio Personhood Amendment will insert Section 16(b):Part B of the initiative clearly states that hormonal birth control pills (BCP’s) would be banned. Ok, maybe it’s not clear to some people, but it’s clear to me. It’s a well known fact that BCP’s can allow conception to take place, albeit rarely. That being said, anything that can allow conception, would be banned. Most women won’t sign up for something that would put them in a position to not be able to prevent pregnancy.
"Person" and "men" defined:
(A) The words "person" in Article 1, Section 16, and "men" in Article 1, Section 1, apply to every human being at every stage of the biological development of that human being or human organism, including fertilization.
(B) Nothing in this Section shall affect genuine contraception that acts solely by preventing the creation of a new human being; or human "eggs" or oocytes prior to the beginning of the life of a new human being; or reproductive technology or In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedures that respect the right to life of newly created human beings.
Does my opinion mean I’m not pro-life? No. It means I’m a realist. When pro-life organizations start focusing attention on the fetuses killed by abortion, and stop focusing on what creates the illusion of ‘controlling women’, then these initiatives might have a chance.
Until a better alternative for reversible birth control is invented, we must not try to ban women from preventing pregnancy with the only tools they have.

Sex Selective Abortions, Here and Now
True story.
There is a couple currently utilizing obstetric services from an OB/Gyn in the practice where I am currently employed. They conceived intentionally. They have a young daughter. They are currently at 14 weeks gestation. They have pressed the OB to order an amniocentesis for the sole purpose of determining gender. They will abort their child if it is a girl.
Yay for feminism! Score one for the bodily autonomy of the female. Satirical commentary (in case you had to ask).
My thoughts: I fear this happens a lot more often than we are aware. I hope the doctor flatly refused. Perhaps Anonymous will keep us updated on the outcome of this horrific case.
***Update - The baby was allowed to live, because he happened to be boy. Lucky for him.

PersonhoodUSA Gearing Up For Personhood Campaign in Colorado
Bruce Finley writes for The Denver Post. PersonhoodUSA is gearing up for their next personhood campaign in Colorado.
From the article:
The new version of the measure "will protect every child, no matter their size, level of development, gender, age or race," said Jennifer Mason, spokeswoman for Personhood USA.
New language "will explain again that every human being is a person from their earliest moments," Mason said. "And it will include some extra information that hopefully will prohibit lies of our opponents. . . . It will be a departure from what we've done before."
What should we expect? We should expect the same ad nauseum lies and scare tactics we heard during the Initiative 26 campaign in Mississippi, such as those listed here. We expect Planned Parenthood will set up another pretentious organization, just as they did in Mississippi.
Can we win? Yes. But it won't be easy. We can only win if you and I continue to point out the lies, and spread the truth. So get ready, and stay tuned!
